Musings 2017

Hello world,
It has been a long time since I wrote last.Times flies is an understatement.
Have moved on literally and figuratively.Back to a more cultured environment.Finally to ones own abode .Ina beautiful gated community. We have settled down to a retired life very smoothly.One reason ofcourse has been our minimal dependence on the trappings of office while in office.We have always been doing our - be it buying groceries,cooking,washing both clothes and utensils or any other domestic work.Another reason has been our ability to be at peace with one's self-never to look back,always to be grateful for God's infinite kindness.And God has been kind.

musings 2014

yet another year- growing older, fatter & less fit, apparently more busy, reflection of , more work or lesser efficiency or poorer time management, I know not .
have been acquiring books, reading less though .hearing a lot more music ,thank god for that, thanks to the wonderful combination of apple and bose .
my admiration for the sheer genius of jobs and bose, increases with every passing day.
life goes on-there is so much to be grateful about .

musings-2012

what is happening to our country?are we on a self-destruct mode?will we as a nation ever improve? will we as a nation ever realize that nation building is a task too serious to be left only to our politicains-that each one of us in what ever our station in life ,whatever activity we are performing have a role to do and to contribue?that in most situations there is only one right thing to do,only one correct thing to do and that we should do it?that we all need to display moral fibre,empathy to our fellow because that that this is the only way forward?that we need to desparately improve in every sphere of life?
will this ever happen?can we change?

musings-2012

been a long time since I posted last;
a lot has happened including losing another parent.my father passed away on 22 aug 2011.it was despearately sad.watched him go away in front of my eyes.the doctors had given up by 2230 hrs and informed me.my son and I watched him on a ventilator;the monitor fluctuating ;my son's presence was hugely comforting-he held my hand as i wept silently,tightly,murmuring you have to let him go,let him go.we stood silently.kept thinking of so many things flashing across my mind.informed my brothers who were at home to come over.my eldest brother's came with the only weapon he had-the holy book.he kept reading from the scriptures slowly and and in my father's ear.my other brother sat in front of the monitor looking at it closely.I was disoriented and feeling very very helpless.we kept vigil.and watched life ebb away.he passed away at 0445 hrs .we paid the hospital bill-a malayali nurse helpfully told pl pay bill sir only then will we give death certificate and "body" .we did that.the"body" was prepared,as was the death certificate.we kept it in the morgue and finalised the burial formalities.he was buried after the afternoon prayers in a shaded graveyard.
it has been some time now .i miss him.his presence.he was 93 and you could say he led a full life and had to go.but you still miss him.
i pray for him,his soul and his peace.

musings

it is all over and has been so for some time now-finally.am talking of the CWG.the games were a splendid success.whether some people 's hands were in the till or not is not for me to comment and multifarious agencies are apparently keeping themselves (and the media busy) with their investigations (and suggestive leaks).let the truth or a version of the truth be out when and if they do complete the investigations ;let us instead contemplate on the games itself.they were a joy to behold,the opening and closing ceremonies;the sheer excitement,the pounding of the heart and the emotions which overtook allmost every indian present when the 4x400 mt womens relay team won the gold are very difficult to describe;the thrill of seeing sania nahwal perform ,and the muscular but feline wrestlers from haryana trouncing their opponents kept one happy for days. a peculiar nationalism overcame me.strange -they are after all a games-or are they only a games?the british and aussie and new zealand press went hammer and tongs ;this only increased the fervour\,the swelling of the chest.

what now of the stadia?could money have been better spent?will it help in increasing india's presence as world sport power?answer to first,well i dread to think of the condition of the stadia a couple of months hence;the second question,well we could debate a la aiyar and come to no firm answer.the third ,well yes,perhaps.

at the end of the day it was a jolly good show.the entertainment on and off the field was great.

let the games begin!
